Department Overview


The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department provides Livingston and the surrounding area with fire prevention, fire protection, medical first responders, rescue operations and hazardous material responses. The Department covers 250 square miles of property in its initial response area.

The Department also provides mutual aid to the other ten departments in Polk County.

Training / Fire Training School


Throughout the year, members of the Department attended training at various locations to meet their continuing education requirements; the Department also provided fire prevention and fire safety programs to schools, civic groups and organizations throughout the County.

In February, the Department hosts the annual fire training school.  This training event is attended by over 400 students and instructors from over 95 different fire departments throughout Texas.

Calls Responded to in 2019

In 2019, the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department responded to 523 calls for service, including 259 inside the City and 264 outside the City.
